Is artificial intelligence an opportunity or a risk for managers? On November 19, some thirty business leaders gathered at Réseau Entreprendre Paris to discuss the many issues surrounding AI.
How does artificial intelligence limit sensitive human capacities such as intuition, courage and empathy? Helene Le Teno, President of HLU, asked our speakers – and participants in small groups – about their experiences with AI.
A few excerpts from our round table below:
“AI is the masterpiece of scientific marketing. Algorithms make sense only in the way we make sense of them. Beware of the return of scientism! Only the field can verify the relevance of algorithms”.
Etienne de Rocquigny, founder of Blaise Pascal Advisors and President of Espérance & Algorithmes
“Algorithms should not replace humans. We can spend money for nothing for years, if we’re not working on relevant use cases. AI has only one mission: to enhance human values and creativity.”
Aurélien FENARD, Director of Digital Transformation and HR Data at France Travail
“Among lawyers, many of whom are resistant to algorithms, the latter are there to free up time for added value. Many burn-outs are linked to the lack of time in the profession.”
Jules Touzet, PhD student at the CRDEI laboratory – Centre de recherche et de documentation européennes et internationales and co-founder of Haiku (ex Clerk)
“It’s essential for managers to know their values and who they are. Intuition often makes the difference in projects. Nurturing empathy and acting with courage is essential.”
Sara Dupuis, founder of Mayari Executive and SymbiOse Ecosystème
